FORGED
The Final Product

Matthew 21:6-9 (ESV) The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them. Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

They thought Jesus came to fix their situation, but He came to recreate them and restore their souls.

They wanted a crown, but Jesus came carrying a cross.

SOUL TATTOO: The fire shapes our character, but the cross and resurrection complete our identity.

The final product isn’t perfection, it’s a person restored by Jesus and connected to His purpose.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (ESV) Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures…

FORGED: The Final Product

1.) The “Final Product” is MADE NEW by the Gospel.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Isaiah 53:4 (NIV) Surely, he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.

  • The pain He carried… was ours.

1 Peter 2:24 (NIV) 24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.

He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross…

  • The sin He carried…was ours.

Hebrews 9:22 (NIV) 22 In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

  • The blood He shed…was for our forgiveness.

Jesus didn’t just experience the cross, He absorbed the weight of sin.

He took the fire of judgment, so we could receive the comfort of salvation.

The fire that should have consumed us, fell on Jesus.

Jesus was broken so we could be made whole.

SOUL TATTOO: The fire shapes our character, but the cross and resurrection complete our identity.

2.) The Final Product STANDS and GROWS in the Gospel.

1 Corinthians 15:4 (NIV) that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures…

He was buried and He was raised!!!

Romans 6:4 (NIV) We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

On the cross, Jesus paid for our past. In the resurrection, He secured our future.

SOUL TATTOO: The fire shapes our character, but the cross and resurrection complete our identity.

3.) The “Final Product” is MADE NEW and CONNECTED for a purpose.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV) Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

He comforts us, so we can comfort others.

Rodney: God never restores us just for us…

He restores us so we can reconnect others to Him.

JESUS STORY – WOMAN AT THE WELL

John 4:28-29 (NIV) 28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.

Restored people become reconnecting people.

Our story isn’t just for us, it’s for someone else’s breakthrough.

The goal is, a new creation, restoration and reconnection to the Creator.

PETER RESTORED:

John 21:15-17 (NIV) 15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” 16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” 17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.

Jesus didn’t just forgive Peter, He restored him and reconnected him.

On Palm Sunday, the crowd celebrated Jesus, but days later, many walked away.”

We can celebrate Jesus, and still not be transformed by Him.

SOUL TATTOO: The fire shapes our character, but the cross and resurrection complete our identity.

The final product isn’t something we achieve, it’s someone we become in Christ.
