BEYOND THE VEIL
Spiritual Authority

The physical world is temporary.
The spiritual world is eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV) 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Colossians 1:16 (ESV) 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities, all things were created through him and for him.

Matthew 28:16-20 (ESV) 16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

1.) Jesus has all authority and He proved it.

Matthew 28:18… “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”

Not some authority…Not most authority…All authority. In heaven…and on earth.

He speaks to a storm…and it stops. (Mark 4:39)
He speaks to demons…and they obey. (Luke 4:36)
He touches the sick…and they are healed. (Matthew 8:16)
He forgives sin…something only God can do. (Mark 2:10)
He calls a dead man out of a grave…and he walks out. (John 11)

There is no realm where Jesus is not Lord.

Jesus didn’t just demonstrate authority, He secured it.

Colossians 2:15 (NLT) 15 In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

The cross paid for authority and the resurrection proved it.

All authority belongs to Jesus, and He has sent us to walk in it.

2.) Believers walk in delegated authority.

Matthew 28:19 (ESV) “Go therefore…”

Luke 10:19 (ESV) 19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.

Ephesians 2:6 (NLT) 6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:6 …seated us with Him in heavenly places in Christ Jesus…

We do not create authority, we carry it. Like a police officer…the badge isn’t the person’s power. It represents delegated authority.

When we:

We don’t fight for authority, we fight from authority.

3.) Authority is activated through obedience.

James 4:7 (NIV) 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Acts 1:7-8 (ESV) 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Authority is activated when we:

Authority isn’t just received, it’s exercised.

3 WALK-AWAY TRUTHS:

We don’t have to live intimidated.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Fear loses its grip when we understand authority

We are not victims, we are positioned in Christ.

We don’t have to live passive.

James 4:7 (NIV) 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Authority requires response.

What we tolerate, we cannot overcome.

We are sent, not just saved.

Matthew 28:19 (ESV) 19Go therefore…

We aren’t just rescued, we are commissioned.

The same Jesus who has all authority…
has now sent us to walk in it.
